I’m Michael Santos with Timeshare Compliance. Besides working as a consumer advocate to help people who want to cancel their timeshare contracts, I’m an advocate for justice and reforms to our nation’s criminal justice system. For the past few days, I’ve been on the island of Guam, staying at Guam’s Hilton. Right in front of me I see a presentation office for one of the more popular timeshare developers.
As I’ve frequently written, I’ve never owned nor sold a timeshare. Some of the investors with whom I partnered, however, had long careers in the timeshare industry. They held leadership positions in sales and corporate compliance. From them I learned a great deal about the industry. They told me that although many people sold timeshares honestly, regardless of how much they trained, a percentage of the people who sold timeshares used manipulative, fraudulent, deceptive sales tactics.
Since investing in Timeshare Compliance, I’ve come to hear those stories directly from the people our company serves.
With a timeshare developer’s office right in front of me, I’m tempted to take the time to go through a timeshare presentation. I’d like to know precisely what our customers experience. I’d like to feel the high-pressure tactics that I’ve heard our customers describe and experience the manipulation. If I had more time, I would sign up for a “tour.”
My time on this trip is limited, however, so I’ll have to “Just Say No” to timeshare.
Instead, I’ll be working with the US Attorney of Guam, several judicial officials, and officials from this island’s prison system. Those who would like to follow the work may visit my other Facebook Page, titled Earned Freedom. Through this type of advocacy, I work to create programs that will help more people who want to emerge from the criminal justice system as law-abiding, contributing citizens.
Our team in Orange County, California, however, will continue taking calls from the people who reach out to us at Timeshare Compliance. They’ll give free consultations, gather data about the fraudulent misrepresentations our customer’s endured when attending timeshare presentations. Then we’ll build cases to help them cancel those timeshare contracts that do not comply with consumer protection laws.
